We block SMTP port 25.
Meaning: If you use
an email client such as Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, etc. to send
mail
you won't be able to send outgoing messages from our network.
You can still use 'Web based' email services such as
Yahoo!
Mail or
MSN's Hotmail
without issue. The reason
we cannot open port 25 (outgoing mail)
on our network is, if we did, spammers could cruise by and use our connection
(and our
great ISP,
Speakeasy.net)
to send un-solicited email.
Kells strongly opposes SPAM thus we
must prevent the potential abuse leaving an outgoing mail port open on
a public network could cause. Thank you for understanding.
